These pictures are the result of some more playing around. I used a new wireless flash for a lot of these. Some of them were taken using the multiple flash mode to freeze action at a few separate points.

Some more light painting attempts. I think I've got the smoke thing down a bit better now. More are turning out a bit better, with fewer hitting the cutting room floor.

Here I attempted to do some "painting with light." Some of the images were done by taking long exposures using a red penlight laser. Some of the smoky ones were done by taking pictures of the smoke from an incense burner and flashing it from the side with my external flash.

I decided to do a reshoot of my Viola, and these were the results.

I thought my Viola might make a good photo subject. It gave me something to experiment with. I may try and take more later with one of my other lenses.
